The Legend of the Family Dog comes from the time of the Spanish colonization, when the sugar cane plantations began, and continues to the present day as a popular interpretation of the "wealth of the patrons" and constitutes a central element within the political culture of this northeastern region of Argentina and in other regions of Latin America.
The concept and image of the Familiar evoke the exploitation and repression of the working force, as well as the ineffable power of dark forces linked to the owner of the sugar industry. "The Familiar" or also "Family Dog" is mainly related to death/disappearance and the rite/sacrifice.
